BODY AND APPEARENCE
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
He's not exactly very tall - more like taller than average, but nothing astounding. He's about... half a head to a head shorter than Koujurou, I think? Yeah you get my drift. And of course being a Sengoku era samurai warlord and all that, its safe to assume that he's pretty damned well-built.

2. How old is he?
Nineteen in canon, though he turned twenty while in Death City.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
Date carries himself really well, since... yeah. He pretty much just screams a leader-type to people, with how he usually doesn't take 'no' for an answer. Some people may put him more as 'arrogant' and/or 'over-confident' as well, but regardless anyone can tell that slouching is the last thing he'd ever do. Everything he does has that air of command around it one way or another.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Very healthy, and he makes sure he stays healthy too and very much in shape for the battles and fights he needs to be in. He has no illnesses now, but he got a case of smallpox when he was a kid and because medicine wasn't how it is now, he lost his eye in that illness and had it taken out later down the road. So he lacks his right eye, but if anything that just makes him even more badass. There's a reason why he's the designated God of Eyepatches.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Because of the live he lives, Date moves in a way that tries to be efficient and effortless at the same time - doing his stuff as quickly as he can with as little energy spent as possible so that he can use it for more things that require more attention. In battle he likes to emphasize on speed and power rather than defence, and throw that with his electricity and flashy moves and you have him mowing down enemies across the front lines.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
Well, Date is quite the looker for his age, even with the eyepatch on. He got his looks mostly from his mother Yoshihime (who was a beauty and also a lunatic) and uuuh I guess his status as head of Oshu has him quite the horde of women after him. Buuut personally, Date could care less too much about his looks - he's already lost an eye anyway, so he really doesn't care. Also because he's already gay for Koujurou.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Light, but somewhat tanned. Doesn't tan much though, so he's still relatively fair. He has scars of course due to all the battles he's been in, but there's a few more prominent ones - one on his torso from the bullet he took at Nagashino in the first season for one.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
Brown-ish for the most part, somewhat long for a guy as he's let it grown out a little to fall around his face. Its pretty smooth an straight, though for some unfathomable reason it gets spiky when he wears his helmet on. Possibly static electricity at work.

9. What color are his eyes?
Blue, a cool ice blue in color that flashes dangerously when he uses his crazy lightning powers.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
Uuuh nothing, unless you want me to talk about his (lack of a) right eye again.

11. What are his chief tension centers?
I CAN NEVER UNDERSTAND THIS QUESTION e_e. Um. I'll just skip this OTL.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
He likes blue. Because he's a Blue Oni. But that aside he's pretty much the kind of guy who would want to be prepared for anything so he wears his armor around. He likes his usual armor a lot and makes sure they're always in good condition, but at the same time he's also taken a liking to one of the threads he got in Death City. However he does wish he can get a proper yukata and hakama set sometimes. Wearing the same things do get pretty old after a while.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
They fit very well, and he likes them a lot! Flexible too, which he approves of as well.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Yes, actually. The only time he changes would be when he goes to bed - he goes into a yukata to sleep then.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
...I. Have no idea, really. Since he would be wearing fundoshis. But I'm going to go with briefs since it looks closer to a fundoshi and I have a feeling Date would never be able to figure out boxers.


SPEECH
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
He sounds like Kazuya Nakai. He sounds like Ruben Langdon.
OKAY SERIOUSLY, he sounds pretty much like his age - a little deep, but mostly you can hear the youth that's still bounding in him. That and maybe a little on the wild side as well.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
Date speaks very much like a delinquent teenager when he's not being mature and deep and meaningful. He's loud - very loud when necessary - and makes sure to speak in a strong and firm voice which people won't question. Extremely confident, and yes he does come to talk pretty easily. Some people might say he's far too cocky at times.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
ARE YOU LEDY GUYS?! PUT YOUR GUNS ON! RETS GET SERIOUS!

...all that Engrish, man.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Japanese, but he also likes to throw in his nonsensical Engrish. As shown above.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
When Date feels like he needs to put out a meaningful point or to stress something or to simply rouse his men, that's when the Engrish comes in. Though there are some random moments where he has it as well, so uh.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
He's a very good impromptu speaker. Comes with being the head of Oshu.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
While Date is admittedly not, say, the kind of speaker who would be politically correct, he is still a pretty eloquent speaker. He's more on the frank and direct side and isn't once to mince words and just says what needs to be said. This will only pretty much change around Koujurou... yeah. >_>


MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
More street-smart than book smart, but he's still pretty damned intelligent since he's been studying since he was a kid. There's a reason why he's managed to stay in his position as head of Oshu for so long after all - there's more to leading than just brawn alone and Koujurou. That and the fact that he was made to study b Koujurou anyway since it was a necessary thing.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
The former, hands down. Its what probably saved his life more than once.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Intuitive and practical. He's pretty down to earth at times, and he's certainly not the kind to go after idealistic dreams - Date knows where his limits do lie, but hell if he isn't still going to try and challenge those limits anyway. Dragons are always meant to soar, not chained to the ground.

4. What kind of education has the character had?
A pretty intense one - he didn't really go out much in his childhood because of his illness, so he spent most of his time studying then. He still had to study when he got better too - though when it was Koujurou who was teaching him, things weren't all that bad at all.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
Fighting and leadership, pretty much. Though he is very much interested in the culture of the Western countries. Maybe his stay in Death City can help him with that.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Extrovert. Can't be the head of Oshu otherwise. XD

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Ooooh boy. To put it nicely, Date can shift between his moods at the drop of the hat - one moment he can be happy, and the next he can be as pissed as hell if provoked. But most of the time he's content and happy and more than willing to gear up for his next battle. And being the warlord that he is, Date's pretty driven for his goal of conquering all of Japan.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
Generally he keeps his inner guards up, but he maintains his usual demeanour. That aside, he finds himself interested in what there is to offer as well (such as now).

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
Act.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Fight.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Date has a pretty fair sense of humor, though he shows it in... different ways. Usually through battling with people. But he does like pranks, especially when it gets a reaction out of Koujurou.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
Uuuuh not really.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
When he contracted smallpox, when his mother shunned him, meeting Koujurou for the first time, his first battle, the day his father died, the day his younger brother died, the day he took the position of Oshu's head, when he decided to conquer Oshu and Japan, his subsequent show of declaration by ordering Koujurou to remove his right eye, battle of Hitoribashi. And then pretty much season one and two in their entireties.

14. What does he fear?
The day when he truly no longer has Koujurou by his side. Still hoping there, BREW.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
To conquer all of Japan! ...once he gets back, that is.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
The fact that he depends on Koujurou a lot more than he will allow himself to admit and that maybe he does wish for him to be in Death City with him.


RELATIONSHIPS
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
Date looked up to his father a fair bit, and saw him as a role-model for what he needed to do when he took upon the position as Oshu's leader. He didn't have the deepest bond with his father, but he still respected him and admired him in his own way. As for his mother... she kind of tried to kill him, so let's just leave it at that.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
He had a younger brother who he wasn't particularly close with, but their relationship got a lot more strained after the death of their father because of the influence that his mother gave to his younger brother. Still Date cared for him quite a bit, and he does regret his brother's death very much.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
There is his cousin who he is on okay terms with, but otherwise there's really nobody else coming to mind.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
Koujurou, Koujurou, Koujurou. The man who practically raised him instead of his real parents, from the start Date has already been depending on him for as long as he can remember. He's the one person Date absolutely cannot lose in his life - more than just his servant, at the same time he's also his brother and his father and his mentor and even something else much more than that. Koujurou's indispensable for Date, and to lose him would mean to lost everything - he's the other half of him, the other side of the coin; he's his Right Eye, and losing him would mean to lose half of himself and half of the world that he sees. He is the reason for Date's strength, the person who gives him reason to go all out and not worry about a single thing. Koujurou is just about everything to Date, and not having him around is just... unnatural.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
If you count 'best friend' as 'great rival', then it would be Yukimura. As for how they met, just watch the first episode of the Sengoku Basara anime. In summary though: Date attempted to ambush a fight between Kai and Echigo, and Kai sent Yukimura in order to intercept this ambush. Thus that is how they met.

6. Does he have other close friends?
...no, not really. Motochika is close though.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
Date doesn't really have... 'friends', per se. More like rivals or people who are interesting. He is kind of terrible with personal socialisation, given the fact that he's been concentrating to be head of Oshu right from the start. Yeah, its kind of a contradiction given his nature but there you go.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Oshu. :|

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
Single hahaha. And no, he has never been married. Koujurou is a wonderful husbando though.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
...well.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
Do I need to answer this. >_>

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
UM. Its more of a question of who exactly does Koujurou approve of. /coughs

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
No and no, he has no intentions of settling down anytime soon. Though he supposes he should, but... yeah.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
SANADA GENJIRO YUKIMURA. That is all.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
6. Undeniably gay for Koujurou.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
He... hasn't really... thought about it. CONQUERING THE COUNTRY IS MORE IMPORTANT.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
No ideaaaaa.


BELIEFS
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac or choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
His birthday is on September 5th which would make him a Virgo, which is... not exactly very fitting. And through vague calculations he would be a Dragon. I think. Which fits anyway, since hahaha one eyed dragon.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
Neither - all Date really believes is in himself, in Koujruou and his men. However, he is pretty open to such beliefs too, as history will show.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
Yes. As for how it began... its really more or less started from when he was a kid and just grew along with him. Date rarely lets anything compromise his personal rules, but if things really are serious, them he'll compromise whatever is necessary to set things right again.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
It depends of on what the other belief is, really. Generally though, he'll either be tolerant/indifferent and possibly curious if its something he didn't expect.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
None that I can think of. :|a


DAILY LIFE
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
Rich, unsurprisingly. In Death City, he's comfortable enough.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
All the way up, man. And he doesn't really care about it a lot, so he's okay with things the way they are in Death City.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
HUEG ESTATE, because he is the leader! Yeah its pretty much his castle and base and its in pretty good condition because Koujurou takes very good care of the place. It pretty much serves as the barracks so his men all stay there, but Date has a section of the compound to himself. In Death City he stays at the Heights, which is good enough as well. All Date really wants is a place to crash. XD

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Swords, food and the occasional ice-cream. He's still trying to find that hashish.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
HE FIGHTS TO CONQUER THE COUNTRY. But now that he has no country to conquer, he helps in the Watch and be relatively badass.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
The whole Death City is his interest now because of all the shiny things. He explores around it as much as he can when he has the time, and when he does he would be training or looking through the DEMISE network. Back in his world, he'd be too busy conquering the country to really do anything besides training.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
He eats healthily. Because Koujurou will not allow anything otherwise.
